My 12th Man Origin Story

My dad and I were driving over the bridge from Bellevue to Seattle in late September of 1996 and all I could see were cars with people wearing cheese on their heads. License plates from Wisconsin surrounded us as we made our way into the shadow of the Kingdome to find the cheapest parking available. Green and yellow jerseys followed us as we made our way up ramps to the 3rd level of the stadium to find our seats. If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought we were in Green Bay by the crowd that had congregated. While the Seahawks got demolished 31-10 in that game (much to the pleasure of those surrounding us from out of town), I remember turning from a nominal fan that turned on games when it was on TV, to a fanatic- dreaming about getting to go back to the stadium, drawing pictures of the Seahawks logo during class, and talking about the experience with everyone I came in contact with.
